This is a bit a left-field choice from Fifa - the man who will co-present the upcoming Ballon d’Or gala is James Nesbitt.
The 50-year-old actor, who is a Manchester United supporter, is best known for his leading role in the British comedy-drama series Cold Feet, while he also starred as a dwarf called Bofur in The Hobbit trilogy.
Nesbitt will be joined at the awards show on January 11 by Kate Abdo, who will be co-presenting for the second year running.
Abdo, who is fluent in English, French, German and Spanish, is a regular on Sky Sports News and led FOX Sports' coverage of the Women's World Cup earlier thi
“When I got asked to do the Ballon d’Or last year I thought it was going
to be a once-in-a-lifetime thing,” Abdo told Fifa’s official website. “Knowing that I’ll be a part of it for the second time is a real privilege.
“You know who’s going to be in the crowd, you’ve seen the red carpet, you’ve seen all these faces that are legends of the game, that you’ve always admired being a sports reporter; people that you’ve followed their entire careers.
